Fingerprint locally
SHA-256 identifies the exact file bytes without uploading the file.
Create a SHA-256 receipt in your browser, add a description, and send it to your own inbox. Your original file never leaves this device.
Step 1
Only your browser reads the file. Nothing is uploaded to ProofStamp.
Step 2
Step 3
Open your email app, review the message, and send it to yourself.
You do not need to email it. You will need the same file later to verify the fingerprint.
Local verification
Select the preserved file and provide the SHA-256 from the email or JSON receipt.
What this gives you
SHA-256 identifies the exact file bytes without uploading the file.
Your email provider records when it received the hash receipt.
A matching hash shows the preserved file has exactly the same bytes.
This receipt does not prove when or where a photo was taken, who created the file, whether it was edited before the receipt was made, or whether its contents are true. The email received time is a practical record, not an independent public timestamp.
